Companies are leaving China one by one: Massive investment in India!

Ana sayfa / News

Especially during the pandemic, many companies faced significant production challenges due to their facilities being located in China. Additionally, ongoing tensions between China and the US further exacerbated the situation. Consequently, companies seeking to avoid production difficulties started relocating their facilities to different countries. Foxconn, as one of Apple’s iPhone suppliers, is among those companies.

Foxconn to invest half a billion dollars in India

Foxconn, being Apple’s biggest iPhone supplier, intends to invest in the Karnataka region in southern India. The giant technology company aims to establish two new factories in the region with a half-billion-dollar investment. By turning towards India, Foxconn seeks to reduce its dependence on China and ensure long-term collaboration with Apple. The company also aims to benefit from more favorable trade laws in the Karnataka region.

According to reports, at least one of the two planned Foxconn facilities will be entirely focused on producing Apple products. This includes the production of next-generation iPhones, iPads, and other Apple-branded technological devices.

Local authorities in Karnataka have already approved Foxconn’s plans for developing a facility in the region. It is expected to generate around 50,000 job opportunities. Having obtained the necessary permissions from Indian authorities, Foxconn plans to begin production in April 2024.

Following the challenges experienced in China, many companies now consider manufacturing solely in China to be highly risky. In this context, India becomes the first choice for companies like Foxconn. What are your thoughts on Foxconn’s move to shift iPhone production to India?
